AREA OF WEAVED SPACE
with Urška Preis and Tery Žeželj
2023

The project represents a collective weaving of the space, which cultivates a temporary community and seeks to challenge the attention of the viewer. Created as part of the Boundary Crossing programme by three artists who have never worked together before, and who engage in the creative process without pre-determined functions. The development of the project was provoked by a reflection on the myth that art should be critical, progressive and avant-garde, and the awareness that the negation of the myth already takes the position of a critique.

In patriarchal capitalism, power and status are perceived as a product and coincide with the social need for continuous production. As a result, we perceive time as linear, trapping us in a destructive cycle of behaviour. Recognising this cycle led to the idea of observing and researching repetitive and care related work, whose social importance has historically been overlooked as something natural for women and therefore inferior, as a source through which we can find an alternative to the ruling power relations.
